Day 5 - Richmond

One more day, one more long trip. Fortunately, this is the last long day for awhile. Today's trip took us from Ohio through West Virginia to Richmond, Virginia. It was beautiful, hilly, green country. We marveled about how different the countryside has been. We watched barges on the river through Charlston. The highlight of the day was watching Tresa try and chop olives while I drove a windy West Virginia road. (But the seafood salad burritos were worth it.)

We arrived at Chris and Kate's house at about 6:30pm and the kids then ran wildly about the large yard until dinner. The kids all seem to get along and Heather and Else were soon best friends. We were fed well and are looking forward to a good night's rest with no pressing reason to get up in the morning.

Gas prices are inching up: we paid $2.779 in Columbus and then $2.899 in Charleston, West Virginia. But we are getting great mileage: from Columbus to Charleston, the van managed 16.6 mpg (it must have been all down hill.) We traveled 488 miles today.
