Day 2 - Oakley Kansas

We got away from Island Acres about 9:25am. Breakfast and packing went pretty well (but we hope to get quicker!) The next several hours drive was really great. We followed the Colorado and then Eagle Rivers with several tunnels and bridges. Then we settled down into Denver and the mountains all disappeared.

Jennifer drove for couple of hours today and we arrived, with a time change, in Oakley at 6:30. Google helped us miss the campground by 4 miles, but we did get off at the right exit. This is a private campground with nice amenities. We are camped in the tent area, which is a 1.5 acre field ringed with trees. (as compared to the Island Acres tent area, which was a very small area for lots of tents.) There is a nice play ground and clean showers. We ate dinner and played and showered and went to bed. We awoke to a nice fog!

The van did better than 15 mpg and we paid 3.069 for gas in Eastern Colorado, so there is hope for the budget. 492.9 miles traveled on day 2.
